The Sky is Falling
- Main Vocal: Anthony Mills
- Guitars: Andrew Cockburn
- Bass: Andrew Cockburn
- Sequencing & Mixing : Mills & Cockburn
Portraying the desperation of an ending relationship, The Sky is Falling is notable for it’s use of the new harmonizer for deep layered backing vocals. Original song idea by Anthony, Andrew added a bass line with input from Anthony that became a defining piece of the mood of the song.
(Andrew: I recorded 2 takes of the bass line and preferred the 2nd take which had a different rhythm in the chorus. Anthony preferred the original and we went with that in the end after spirited discussions. Although this is one of my favorite M&C songs I believe it suffers from the harshness of the dynamic mics we used to record the acoustic guitar, and lack of compression on the bass)
Nothing Lasts Forever
- Main Vocal: Anthony Mills
- Guitars: Anthony Mills
Anthony showcases his acoustic guitar skills in this solo piece. The thoughtful lyrics are somewhat prophetic in that this was one of the last songs we recorded before Mills & Cockburn output dropped to nothing as we both moved on in life.
Slip Away
- Main Vocal: Anthony Mills
- Guitars Anthony Mills, Andrew Cockburn
- Sequencing & Mixing: Mills & Cockburn
Created from an Original idea from Ant, Andrew added some guitar work to this light easy celebration of life.
The One
- Main Vocal: Anthony Mills
- Sequencing & Mixing : Mills & Cockburn
A soulful love song majoring on simplicity with an orchestral score.
(Andrew: I think the idea was great but we were hampered by the fact that neither of us are great keyboard players. A better performance and sound for the piano would have helped this song a lot. Also, although the orchestral arrangement was sound, the string sounds we had available were not as good as the song deserved).
